Help our snake rescue protect reptiles in Shreveport, LA
Welcome to Steve's Snaketuary®, where our mission is to Eliminate Fear through Education and Bring Peace through Rescue.
A huge percentage of people are afraid of snakes, and we hope to change that through education. We want to replace fear with respect. Fear causes thousands of snakes to be killed each year, and that has a negative impact on the wildlife here in Louisiana.
The purpose of our snake sanctuary is to provide:
- Snake rescue for unwanted pet snakes or reptiles
- Snake removal for snakes that have found their way into gardens, homes, or businesses
- Snake education that shows the community the importance of snakes
- Snake ID for help identifying snakes found in Louisiana
Above all, we hope to teach the public to respect snakes and their unique role in our world.

Simply send a clear photo of the snake, along with any relevant details (like location and size), to Snaketuary®, and our expert herpetologists will provide a prompt and accurate snake ID. This service is completely free, and a great resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the snakes of Louisiana.
Steve's Snaketuary® is commited to education and community service, so we want to provide a valuable resource for people in Louisiana to learn about snakes and stay safe.
Snakes are here for a reason
Another objective of our snake sanctuary is to educate the public about how important snakes are to our world. Snakes are predators that keep other animal populations in check, such as:
- Rodents
- Frogs
- Lizards
Some snakes even prey on smaller snakes, keeping those populations at healthy levels. Overall, snakes are afraid of humans and would rather avoid us than harm us. Because of their docile nature, some snakes even make great pets.
To learn more about snakes, schedule one of our snake education programs. You'll have the chance to meet some scaly friends, and they might just change your mind about snakes.
Safety at the sanctuary
The head of our snake sanctuary, Steve, is not only a Master Herpetologist and National Wildlife Control Operator, but also a Firefighter, Advanced EMT, CPR/BLS Instructor, and EMS Instructor, so our education programs include information about snake bites and first aid treatment. You can even learn how snake venom is used in medication!
If a snake bite were to occur on a snake removal call, our team is trained to handle the situation.
At Steve's Snaketuary®, we have a passion for snakes. Discover that passion for yourself through our snake rescue and education programs in Shreveport and Bossier City, LA, and surrounding areas.
Steve's Snaketuary® was an awesome experience. He went above and beyond to make my family's time at the Snaketuary® memorable. He was very accommodating and great with my children. Steve had a lot of knowledge regarding the snakes, and my children as well as I learned a lot. We will most definitely come back again.

Steve is a plethora of knowledge. We recently became a snake owning family, and he is ALWAYS available with expertise advise. I am so thankful to have such a kind and knowledgeable reptile expert at my disposable.

Steve's Snaketuary® came to do a presentation at the school I teach at, Ascension Classical School. They did an AMAZING job. The students (and teachers) had the best time and learned so much. He even tied everything into how amazing God is and how all his creation and creatures matter and have purpose. I highly recommend you or your facility to book them immediately!
